Welcome Year 1 Parents and Students, I have a real desire to share my love of Japanese with all students and parents. I work hard to make sure that your kids learn about the Japanese language and culture but also develop a love of learning. Our objectives are to use as much communicative, authentic Japanese as possible and introduce new words, grammatical patterns and culture through songs, games and hands-on activities. We are going to be learning some Hiragana this year! Hiragana is one of 3 Japanese scripts that Japanese kids learn. Hiragana is the first group of characters introduced to Japanese kids at kindergarten and school. There are 46 basic characters. I have created a system to help kids learn these characters through mnemonics (making up stories to help associate the character with a mental image).
